To Wallpaper or Not To Wallpaper

So I have a little dilemma. Should I wallpaper or not wallpaper? I was watching Keeping up with the Kardashians and Kim has this beautiful Black and White Damask Wallpaper in one of her bathrooms and I love it! However when I was watching HGTV yesterday they stated that wallpaper brings the value down on a property. So this is my dilemma I would like to put this wallpaper in our powder room/half bath, but I don't know what I should do. So I am reaching out to all my blog followers to give me your honest opinion about wallpaper. Should I go for it and get wallpaper or paint? We have to do something in this room because the paint is chipping and we don't have the color to match the current paint color. So send me your feedback so I can decide and we can get to work. What I mean is Chad can get to work. Thanks in advance for your opinion. I will leave you with a few pictures of our current bathroom and the wallpaper. I am also deciding if I should do a brown damask or a black damask wallpaper... to many decisions I know, but that is why I am asking for your help. Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

I'm not a huge wallpaper fan BUT I LOVE that print!!!! I like the brown idea better though---I say wallpaper one wall with the brown one, then paint all the others dark chocolate to match the brown in the print...it will make that one wall pop and it won't be "too" busy!

Hope your having a good week sweetie...

Hey sweetie, I hope it's ok if I add your button to my page under prayers, I thought it was already there but it's not... :)

DO IT!!.. when they talk about wall paper bringing the value down, I think (A) they are talking about ugly wallpaper (not a stylish littl number like ur pattern) and (B) a large area.. ur doing a powder room! Hook it up girlfriend! =D

I love the wallpaper idea! I agree that it seems that only tacky, out dated wallpaper would lower the value of a home. A powder room is the perfect place for it and I love the pattern. Personally I like the black and white pattern, you could add some accent pieces in red or eggplant that would really pop. FUN!

I have such an addicting personality.. if I like a food, I eat it nonstop every single day for weeks. No exaggeration.. and with me picking up reading again.. its getting bad. lol.. I keep telling the kids "Five more minutes fellas." but I can't put the darn thing down. I just finished The Confessions of a Dutchess by Nicola Cornick and I REALLY want to get another one, but I should probably do something productive instead.. though reading is so much funner and will probably win in the end! =D maybe I'll get a self help book (tho I already have a gazillion!) and this way I'm reading AND doing something productive! hehe

I love the pattern, I think it will just be an adding more warmth to your already warm home. Black and white is my pick. Love you.

Hi! I am an interior designer and I always tell my clients to do what they want to there own homes while they live there and worry about re-sale when the time comes:) Remember, wallpaper is strippable! One thought: You could always paint the wall a neutral color (gray, taupe, tan, even black) then add damask accessories (towels, soap dishes, bath rugs etc). The advantage to this is you can always switch out accessories eaisier than stripping wallpaper and painting. Loved the pattern when I saw it on The Kardashieans too! Good luck from Indiana!!

I agree with The Pifers, with the wall paper on one wall and then paint the other 3 walls so it won't look too busy. I love the design!

Most wallpaper is yucky, but this is beautiful! I think you should go for it - in black!

Wallpaper is not as popular as it was in years past but in small areas (like powder rooms) I think it makes a great accent! Besides adding a faux...it's a great way to change things up. Go for it! It's only a small room and will be easy to change in a few years.

I love the wallpaper, but I probably wouldn't do it if you are thinking of selling soon.

I hate wallpaper and I have heard that it's out and devalues and all that, BUT...I think you should do it!! It's so cute and if Kim had it, it's okay. I'm just saying......

Hello there :) I like that paper, and as long as you are not moving soon, go for it. I like the suggestion of one wall with it and three walls with a complimenting color. Let us know what you decide to do!

do you plan to stay in the house awhile? if you plan to stay there for another few years, then i would DO IT! i love that wallpaper and i saw something similar to it in a model home in a bathroom about your size and it looked AWESOME! i don't think wallpaper lowers the value as much as it's a pain to remove if a buyer doesn't like it so some may not offer if there's a lot of wallpaper in a house.

i say go for it! post pictures once you do!
