Melissa's Fashion Tips

Today at Kelly's Korner she is hosting Show Us Your Life - Fashion Tips.  I first want to say that I hope my fashion tips are helpful as I am not an expert in fashion.  I just try to stay with what is in style.  Which would be tip number one.
1.  Keeping up with the current Trend, but not going too overboard
2.  Staying in season with colors and trend
3.  Fashions come and go so spending tons of money on trendy items is not the way to go.  Spend your money on the basics.
4.  I think it is okay to spend extra money on staple items such as, jeans.  Jeans can last several seasons and a great pair of jeans makes any girl feel good.
5.  When I go shopping I think about how long can I wear this?  If it is only for that season then for the most part I do not purchase the item.  I think that you should be able to wear basic colored shirts long sleeve or short sleeve for at least a few seasons.  This also goes with dresses if they are basic and not too trendy.
As for my shopping hot spots here are a few:
Banana Republic and JCrew - I love these stores, but only for items that will be around for a few seasons.  Why?  The clothes are a bit more expensive, but I do normally wait until items go on sale.  I love purchasing winter coats from both of these stores as I know that I can wear them for a couple of seasons.
Gap - this store is my stable store for basic items like long and short sleeve shirts.  I do purchase jeans at Gap too because I think the price is not too bad.  I love this store for Grayson's clothes.  I think that they make great children's clothes, but I always wait until the sales.  For Fall/Winter 2010 Grayson already has a great assortment of clothes from Baby Gap.  When I say great deals most of the jeans I purchased for him were orginial $20 and I got them for $3.99...WOW!
Francesca's Collections - I love this store for trendy and seasonal items.  I don't think that the prices are too high for dresses and tops.  I especially love this store for Spring/Summer dresses.
Ann Taylor Loft - if you haven't been in one lately I would recommend it.  They have some great items that look like they came from JCrew, but without the high price.  I have enjoyed shopping at this store over the past few months.  Last weekend I purchased this shirt:
As for accessories I love going to local boutiques to get unique items.  My favorite spot is Perfect Choice.  They have the cutest jewelry, scraves, purses, and handbags.  I have mentioned this store a few times on my blog and here are a few items I have purchased.
I was just in Perfect Choice last weekend and she has some cute new jewelry!  A must see!
If you live in NWA the address for Perfect Choice is:
1406 South Walton Blvd
Bentonville, AR 72712
Etsy is a great spot for unique accessories too.  I have spent a lot of time on Etsy looking for mongrammed items for Grayson and I found this cute headband and necklace that I just purchased.  I can't wait to get them in the mail.
I hope you enjoyed my fashion tips.  I have some great friends and blogging friends that have wonderful style and I look forward to reading there tips too!

Week 23

This post is a few days late, but today is the first day that I have put make up on and have done my hair.  I spent Monday and Tuesday of this week resting after my scare on Sunday.  I had planned on taking the Week 23 pregnancy photo on Sunday as I was dressed up, but that didn't turn out as planned.  So again I am in my sweats... sorry.  I am doing much better just lightheaded and nauseated in the mornings.  Thank you for all your sweet comments and concern for both Grayson and I.
Today I am 23 Weeks and 2 days.  Grayson's body length is between 7.5-8.0 inches and weighs between 1-1.25 pounds.  Baby Grayson is the size of a loaf of bread.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 23 weeks and 2 days
Total Weight Gain/Loss: 5 pounds - I lost 1 pound last week when I went to the doctor for stomach pains.  The pains were round ligament pains.  I am going to try some pregnancy yoga DVD's at home to see if it helps.  So if you have any recommendations leave me a comment I would love some feedback.
Maternity Clothes: None Yet
Best Moment this week:  After fainting on Sunday at church the best moment of this week was knowing that Grayson is okay and humbling myself to take better care of myself.
Gender: It's A Boy - Grayson Konnor!
Movement: Getting to know Grayson's movement throughout the day. When I eat he constantly is moving. Also when I am laying in bed Grayson moves too.  Chad has been able to feel Grayson's movement at night and he loves it.
Food Craving: Honey Nut Cheerios, Dark Chocolate, and Chocolate Muffins from a local bakery in Bentonville.  They are so Yummy!
What I miss: My pilates reformer class @ the Fitness Center
Sleep:  Once I get comfortable I fall asleep, but it is the two or three bathroom trips I don't love.  Oh well I love being pregnant!
What I am looking forward to: Picking up our crib for Grayson this weekend and my monthly doctor's appointment next week.
Symptoms: Lightheaded and Nausea for the past few days.

I am so excited for tomorrow Chad is picking up Grayson's crib!

1st ER Vist and Ambulance Ride for Grayson

My Sunday started off normal getting up and eating a bowl of honey nut cheerios.  I got ready for church and felt great.  Then while at church everything changed.  For the first half of service I was feeling great in fact a church friend of mine asked me how I was doing and I told her I was doing great.  About half way through the service I closed my bible and looked at Chad and told him I was not feeling well.  That is the last thing I remember before the people around me where trying to wake me up.  Yes I fainted in front of the entire church not once, but twice.  It was embarrassing.  I was blessed to have a doctor and a nurse at church help me in the hallway until the Ambulance arrived.  I kept telling everyone around me that it was not neccessary and I just need to go home and rest.  I was extremely tired.  I ended up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital to get checked out.  It was my first time and hopefully last time in an ambulance.  I thought I was fine, but I was more concerned because of Grayson.  I wanted to make sure he was okay.  Plus all the people assisting thought it was weird I fainted while sitting.  So once we got checked in and all the normal wires hooked up to me to check my blood pressure, sugar levels, temperature, and oxygen levels all came back normal.  So they proceeded to do blood work to check my electrolytes, test to see if I was anemic, and did an EKG test.  While we waited for the test results I was given fluid through an IV and our friend Kim went and got both of us lunch.  I was hungry and they were not about to let a pregnant girl starve.  They also checked on Grayson and his heartbeat was 144 and he was kicking and moving around so that was great news.  That was the best part of the day hearing Grayson's heartbeat.  What a relief.  About an hour later all tests came back and everything looked great.  The doctor is not sure why it happened and just told me to drink more fluids and rest.  After spending three hours in the ER I spent the rest of the day resting.  Today I am home resting and taking it easy.  I am still not feeling great.  I feel very light headed and I am still tired after sleeping over 12 hours.  I have a planned doctor's appt with Dr. Heather next week and if needed I will have a follow up appointment this week.  All in all yesterday started out great, but it took a turn and at the end of the day both Chad and I are humbled.  It could have been a lot worse for both Grayson and I, but we were blessed with lots of prayers from our church family, the Jolliff Family, our friends, and our family.  It was embarrassing to faint at church, but it was also a blessing to see God in control.  Thank you to all for your prayers and concerns.  Plus all the emails, calls, text, and facebook messages.  Chad was a bit overwhelmed, but we know that so many people care about us and our little peanut Grayson.

I will have my week 23 post up on Wednesday.
Have a Happy Monday!

Thanks for all your stroller suggestions.  It really helped!
Happy Sunday!

Grayson Shopping

Chad and I spent the day together on a Friday.  It was nice to take the day off and spend it together.  I was really needing one on one time with Chad.  We have had a busy few weekends and it was nice just to be together.  We decided that we would make a trip to Tulsa (which is 2 hours away) so we could do our baby registry and finalize Grayson's bedroom furniture.  Chad and I really need to finalize the furniture by the end of this month because we may have to order and it can take 4-6 weeks for it to arrive.  After tomorrow I think we will have it all finalized.
When we pulled into the parking lot of Babies R Us I was excited because we could finally park in one of these spaces
We stopped at the registry center and filled out the paperwork and got our registry gun and the overwhelming event began.  After walking through a few aisles I soon realized that we needed a experienced Mommy and Daddy with us to start and complete the registry.  We did our best, but we know that we will have to make modifications to our current registry.  We also plan to register at Target and Walmart.  I may also register at a few local boutiques as well.  But I have to share our experience with you and for us to remember.
Our stroller story:  You should have seen Chad and I in the stroller aisle.  We were looking at a few infant/stroller travel systems and we are all about making sure it is easy to use.  So the first stroller system we pulled out was a Graco and after getting the infant car seat out of the stroller we tried for about 5 minutes to get the stroller to fold down before a experienced mommy of two saw us and she came over to assist.  She must have known that we were new parents as she then proceeded to give us her opinion on which brand was the best.  She was so helpful and laughed with us when we tried to figure out the other strollers.  Finding a infant car seat is overwhelming as I want to find the safest seat out there for our baby.  There are so many choices and a lot of opinions on what is best.  I have utilized the Baby Bargains book and it has been great, but it was great to hear from the mommy in the store too.  I highly recommend this book to all new parents.  I think after going to Babies R Us twice today that we have finalized a infant car seat and right now we plan on getting a Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Frame Stroller.  Once Grayson is older Chad and I want to get a Jogging Stroller as I walk almost everyday and Chad runs several days during the week and weekend.  Our second option for a infant/stroller traveling system is the Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller.  It will be interesting to see what we finally decide on.
After our experience in the stroller aisle we proceeded down the remaining aisles and we did our best to register for what we think we would need, but it was difficult.  For example all the baby bottle options, how do you know which ones to register for or the blanket aisle what do you need and how many are the few questions that we struggled with today.  Than we got to the infant toy aisle and we just crumbled we didn't even know where to start so we didn't register for any toys.  So all in all Chad and I learned that we need HELP.  Good thing we have a few mommy friends that will be willing to support us.

The reason we went to Babies R Us was to look at there crib selection and we ended up not finding anything that we both liked.  Chad thinks that all the cribs look like jails and the only one that we both agree on is at a local Boutique in our town.  So tomorrow Chad and I are finally placing our order for the crib, dresser, and glider at the Baby's Room.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and we both had a yummy salad, but no cheesecake.  I don't know how we managed to not have any cheesecake.  Our next stop was the mall to do some shopping and I was excited because the Tulsa mall has a Francesca's Collections.  I walked away with two dresses and a brown wrap.  We also visited a few baby boutiques in Tulsa.  One was called GaGa-A-GoGo and Chad thought that the name was weird and he couldn't work at a place that was named GaGa-A-GoGo I thought that it was cute.  Both baby boutiques were cute and had some great designer clothes.  We didn't purchase anything, but I just love visiting local boutiques.
Before heading back to NWA we had to stop at Great Harvest Bread Company so I could purchase my favorite bread...honey whole wheat.  If you haven't tried this bread store you should it has amazing bread.  We are now back home relaxing from our fun filled adventure of shopping and we are both looking forward to the weekend.  We have a birthday party to go to tomorrow and then Chad and I are going to go and see a movie.  I think we may go and see Lovely Bones.  Have a great weekend!

Grayson and Mommy Update

Grayson is doing VERY well.  Strong heartbeat at 160.  As for mommy the pains I have been experiencing the past few days is round ligament pain, which is what most of you stated in your comments.  The doctor said that I could experience this pain for the rest of my pregnancy as my uterus continues to grow.  The only thing that can help is a band called Mom-Ez Maternity Belt.  Have any of you tried this belt?  For now I am relaxing with my feet up at home.
Thanks for all your prayers, comments, and tweets.
Have a great afternoon!

WOW

Thanks for all your wonderful comments.  I didn't anticipate all the comments.  I loved hearing from new followers and stopping by your blog.  Yeah for blogging.  I loved all your sweet notes about my pregnancy and Grayson.  a BIG thank YOU!
I am still going through the comments and visiting your blogs.  I hope the comment change wasn't too difficult for you.  It is new to me to and I am still getting use to it, but so far I am very happy with it.  If you want to switch to Disqus Comments on your blog go to www.disqus.com and they have step by step directions.  It was not too hard.  I had to ask a few questions so if you can't figure it out please let me know.
On another note, for the past several days I have had severe sharp pains in the lower section of my belly.  I have googled what this might be, but to be on the safe side I am calling the doctor this morning.  It only occurs when I am walking.  I pray that everything is okay with Grayson.  As a new pregnant person I don't want to seem like I am constantly calling the doctor's office with silly concerns, but I am 22 weeks and I don't feel as if I should have these type of pains.  What are your thoughts?  Thanks in advance for your advice!

Welcome to Stafford Stories

As you can see I got a blog makeover!  My sweet and amazing friend Traci from Sweet Cheeky Designs did this design.
It was all inspired by Grayson's nursery colors and bedding.  So now I have given you a sneak peak of what we are doing in the nursery.  Traci created every detail that I requested and I just love how it turned out!  Thanks Traci!!!!
There are several changes to my blog:
Our Story Side Button - if you are new to our blog and want to read our infertility story you can go push this button.
All Things Baby - thanks to all my followers I have a great list of sites that are all about babies.
Email Me - I have added an email side button
Our Journey - Complete Infertility Resume from beginning and includes future appointments for Baby Grayson and Mommy.
I also want you to know that I had to change my comments to Disqus Comments as I was receiving comments that were not nice!  I hope it is not too much trouble for all of you.  If so please let me know because I just love reading your comments.
Over the past several weeks I have received some new followers and since I love to meet new people I was wondering if you would leave me a comment (if you want too) about yourself or your blog link so I can stop by your blog and get to know you better.  I would love to hear where you live and see what else we have in common.  So excited to hear from all of you!
Have you heard of the Bloom Book Club?  If not you must stop by this blog.  It is a online book club that has been created by Angie Smith and Jessica Turner.  The first book was Crazy Love and it was a great read!  The second book (which starts this Sunday January 24th 2010) is Same Kind of Different As Me.
I just love this book so far and I have already went well beyond what we were suppose to read for Sunday.  Once you get started and learn the characters it is hard to stop reading.  I will probably end of finishing before Sunday.  If you are joining Bloom Book Club this time around please leave me a comment I would love to hear what you think of the book.  If you need a great and inspiring book you must give this book a go!
Sorry for the long post, but I had a lot to share with you today!

So the moment I found out I was having a boy I began shopping.  I just love shopping for baby clothes.  Ask Amie I am always looking for great deals and sending her boys a few things from time to time.  Now it is finally my turn to buy clothes for my baby boy.  Yeah!
Today Chad and I went to a local boutique called Belly Buttons and I got two outfits for next Fall/Winter.  They are so cute!  I can't wait to see Grayson in them.
For all my NWA mommy friends Belly Buttons is having a sale Saturday on all there Fall/Winter clothes 50% off.
Once we found out we were having a boy Chad got me this cute diaper bag from Perfect Choice.  I just love it!

Now a question to all of you.  I am looking for the perfect Take Home from the Hospital outfit for Grayson.  I want something that is mongrammed so if you have any great sites either online or find something on etsy let me know.  Thanks in advance!
Happy Shopping!

Stafford Busy Weekend Recap

Our weekend was filled with TONS of fun stuff!  It started with Harper's 1st Birthday Party.  I have been looking forward to attending Harper's party all month.  I was excited to see what Kelly did for her party and see sweet Harper turn 1!  What a great day for Kelly, Scott and their family.  I also got a chance to meet a few blogging friends that are friends with Kelly as well.  What a great Saturday morning.
Ashley, Avery and I
Mommy and Birthday Girl!  Look at that face... priceless!
Brody - Harper's future boyfriend!
Yummy cake from Rick's Bakery!
I love this picture of Avery and I.  We were looking at Harper's picture book that her mom created.  It was AMAZING!
Before the next birthday party Chad and I went to the Baby's Room in NWA to shop for baby furniture.  We really need to get the furniture ordered as it could possible be 4-6 weeks before it arrives.  We found a crib, dresser, and glider.  However we are going to take a look at Babies R Us next Saturday and than make a decision.  I am pretty sure I have finalized the glidder from the Baby's Room, but we will see.  I am excited to get these details finalized.  It is overwhelming with all the options they have for all things baby!  It amazes me everyday!  I did order Grayson's bedding and I can't wait to show all of you.  I ordered it from Mod Pea Pod.  Check out her website!

Our next birthday party of the day was at Chuck E Cheese for Emma's 4th Birthday party.  It was funny that she was having her birthday party at CEC as she was scared of Chuck E Cheese when he came out to visit with the kids.  However Kelsey who is 1 loved Chuck E Cheese and getting her picture taken.  I would say cheese and she would smile and pose with CEC.  It was great to see the kids and our friends!
Birthday Girl Emma is 4!
Later that evening Chad and I had a group date planned with our friends.  It was great to go out with our friends without their kids.  A special THANK YOU to Alex for getting all of us together.  The night started with dinner at Outback and than we went to see Avatar.  I would have to say that Avatar was good, but it was a long movie.  By the time the show was over I was SO ready for BED!  I look forward to our group date again in February.  Chad and I have both decided we need to get out more together and with our friends before Grayson arrives.

I was so excited for Sunday as we have not been to church in three weeks due to travels.   Our pastor began a new series last week called Even Now from the book of Joel.  Before church Chad and I watched last week's service online and it was a review that judgement is NOW here.  Yesterday's message was on Sound the Alarm and knowing that the Day of the Lord is near.  The book of Joel is so applicable to where we find ourselves personally, within our church, and in our nation and world.  I look forward to seeing the changes that come from this series.

The rest of our Sunday afternoon was spent cleaning closets and cabinets throughout our home.  Chad and I are slowly trying to get our home ready for a baby.  All of our closets and cabinets are organized.  I just hope it stays this way.  We are both so excited for the next few months and we are trying to start early with the baby prep so we are not doing things last minute.  If Chad could he would have the nursery completed by the end of this month.  Any tips you would like to share on preparing us or our home for a baby please leave me a comment.  I would love to hear from my readers.  All of you have some great advice.

It was a busy weekend and I was so tired, but I loved every minute of our weekend!
Have a great week!

Baby Bargains and It's Official

Since I am a new Mom it was suggested that I get this book.  It arrived yesterday afternoon and last night I spent the evening reading the section on Cribs.  Chad and I are ready to shop and get our crib, but after reading this section I have questions for all the experienced mommies.  But first this book offers great websites for all mommies so I thought that I would list them for all of you:
Speciality Store Finder - www.AllBabyAndChildStores.com

Now onto the questions.  Chad and I plan on purchasing the following items for the nursery, crib, dresser, and rocker.  Do you recommend these three pieces or do I need something else?  If I could find a vintage dresser or a orange dresser I would love it.  So if you have any ideas send them my way.  Next question how many of you have convertible cribs?  I thought that this would be the route to go, but after reading this book I am not sure.  Are they worth the money?  Where did most of you purchase your cribs?  Did you have a bassinet for your bedroom when your baby was a newborn or did you use a pack n play?  Where is the best place to purchase a rocker?  I know a lot of questions, but this new mommy needs just a little direction.  I want my nursery to be what I have dreamed of and I am sure with your help I can get there.  Thanks in advance!

It's Official Chad and I have named our little peanut!
GRAYSON KONNOR
Thank you for all your name suggestions!  It was fun to read through all of them!

One final question what are the best sites to look for baby bedding and mongrammed items?  Now that we have the name picked out I am excited to start looking for mongrammed items.  Have a great Thursday!

Week 21

Today I am 21 weeks and 1 day!  I had such a great week last week and this past weekend was so much fun!  I have had a great time sharing all the wonderful moments thus far in my pregnancy.  This week I am relaxing and spending a lot of time thinking of all things baby.  Like what will the nursery look like, baby names, baby clothes, baby gear, and paint colors.  Chad is ready to get started on the nursery and get this project completed.  I believe that I have finalized the nursery bedding and the color theme.  I also have done some shopping for winter clothes for our baby boy at Baby Gap.  They have some amazing deals right now that I just couldn't pass it up.  I need to go to Children's Place and Old Navy to see what kind of deals they have on baby clothes.  I know I am shopping early, but I can't express how excited I am that we are having a healthy baby boy!  Yes Chad and I are expecting a Healthy Baby Boy in May 2010.  During our ultrasound they completed a complete review of our baby and everything is normal and our ultrasound tech and doctor told us that our baby is healthy.  So going forward unless I have any issues I will no longer need ultrasounds and we will just have our normal monthly appointments.  I loved seeing our baby boy, but I am happy that everything is going well!
God is Good!
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 21 weeks and 1 day
Baby Boy Stafford Weighs:  13 ounces

Gender:  It's A Boy!
Movement:  Yes I have experienced the first movement.  It was amazing and I love the feeling.

Great Friends

I would have to say that one of best things that have come from blogging is the friends I have been able to meet in NWA.  Today I got the opportunity to have a lunch date with some wonderful girls!  I had lunch with Ashley and Avery, Kelly and Harper, Julee, Jennifer and Brody, and Katie.  I feel blessed to have each of these girls in my life.  We met at a local restaurant called Hammontree's and they only serve Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.  It was YUMMY!  I enjoyed the great conversation between all the girls and watching each of our relationships develop over the past several months.  Thanks girls for all your support and friendship today.  I needed it today!  Here are a few fun photos from today!
